For the People of Reno, Washoe, and Nevada
Chip served on Reno’s Ward 3 Neighborhood Advisory Board and is currently an active member of the Reno/Sparks Branch of the NAACP, Board President of Acting in Community Together in Organizing Northern Nevada, Board member of Faith In Action Nevada, Chair of the Nevada Gun Safety Coalition and a leader of Indivisible Northern Nevada.
He is an active member of the Democratic Women of Washoe County, the WOW Chapter of the Alliance for Retired Americans, the Central Committees of Washoe County’s and Nevada’s Democratic parties and was elected to his homeowner’s association board. He is the former elected chair of the Washoe County Democratic Party. He is a columnist for Tu Red Enlace and formerly wrote for Reno Tahoe Tonight magazine.
He was elected the 2016 Democratic nominee for northern Nevada’s Second Congressional District. He is active with Progressive Democrats of America. He has hosted experts from around the country to discuss the important issues of our day on his radio programs.
Chip is an experienced business executive, entrepreneur, consultant and C-level executive working to make businesses and organizations better. He has founded a number of companies and has served on numerous for-profit and nonprofit boards. He has hosted radio shows to promote local businesses and best business practices.
Chip was an honor graduate of Frederick Military Academy, where he commanded the corps of cadets. He earned a ROTC scholarship, studied business management and organizational behavior at Santa Clara University and the University of San Francisco, where he earned his bachelor’s degree.

He married his college sweetheart, Laynette, and they have three grown children; Daniel, Amy and Annie.
